Sougia is a 70km drive away from Chania.
View map and detailed directions here.
The road is often steep winding so it will take about 1.5 hours to arrive by car or 2 hours by bus.
The ride will compensate you as the road crosses the orangetree filled plains of Alikianos, climbs the mountain, runs through the village of Agia Irini, and then through picturesque villages and hillsides full of olive and oak trees descends to Sougia and the south coast of Chania Prefecture
If you are in Paleochora and want to visit Sougia, the tarmac road linking the villages crosses Temenia and Rodovani. On the map the distance seems too short but it will take 30 - 45 minutes to get to Sougia.
Alternatively you can take a boat from Paleochora or Sfakia (which stops in Bath and Agia Roumeli). Information on boat itineraries here.
